ML Dunes third at regionals

CENTRALIA - The Moses Lake Dunes 13U All-Stars were unable to advance to the Babe Ruth League World Series in North Dakota.

The Dunes were able to place third at the regional tournament in Centralia after posting a 4-1 record recently.

Moses Lake began tournament play with a 19-0 blowout over Wyoming. The Dunes exploded in the first inning, scoring 11 runs. Payton Castro led the team with 5 RBIs while Austin Valdez pitched 3 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts.

In their next matchup, Moses Lake hung on to beat SWAT behind the arm of Jordan Rios. Rios pitched a complete game while tallying 6 strikeouts.

The Dunes' high powered offense returned against South Thurston and Moses Lake cruised to an easy 25-1 victory.

Michael Harrington had a big day for the club with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Daimon Vasquez was solid from the mound striking out 6 batters in 3 innings of work.

Moses Lake continued their run through the field beating Montana 12-2. BJ Mullin led the eam with 2 RBIs.

The Dune's quest to make the World Series ended with a 10-1 defeat to Hazel Del Metro, knocking them out of the tournament.

The game was close throughout until Hazel Del Metro was able to push 8 runs across in the fourth inning.

Despite the big inning, Rios was solid on the bump delivering 24 first pitch strikes.
