Scam warning: Grant County Sheriff not asking for donations

EPHRATA - Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones is warning the public to be on guard for a person calling and seeking donations for the sheriff's office.
It's not real. It's a scam.
"The Grant County Sheriff's Office does not phone people asking for donations," Jones said. "We also don't solicit donations over email or social media."
Jones became aware last week that a Moses Lake area-citizen received a call from a man saying he was from the sheriff's office and asking for a donation.
People are reminded to contact their local law enforcement agency if they believe they have been the target or victim of a scam.
