Reader urges Americans to speak the truth

| August 2, 2013 6:00 AM

Many people used pseudonyms during the American Revolution for protection from the King's government. The First Amendment of the US Constitution was written to protect our freedom of speech and the press. However, civilized debate and protection of the "Freedom of Speech" no longer exists. A wise person will no longer publish under their real name. The phrase "do not shoot the messenger" is more important today than most people would acknowledge.

Wise people will withdraw from Facebook. Wise people will be very selective in sending emails under their own name. Wise people know that a cell phone isn't protection if physically attacked.

Wise people will not be silenced, but shall find ways to communicate to other people who want to learn the truth. Unfortunately, people who most need the truth will not find controversial letters to the editor in newspapers.

Forty-four can blame the Tea Party, for the riots that they cause; while the Occupy Wall Street kids get his firm applause. In time, he will discover that truth is an acid that slowly eats away at propaganda. I wonder if Forty-four is really proud, as he stands like a monarch before the dwindling crowd.
