She was born May 10, 1915 in Spokane, WA to Alfred and Louise (Binder) Hughes and the eldest daughter of six children. On September 12, 1939 she married Raymond Harrison Trask, Jr. of Boise, in McCall, Idaho. After living in Everett, WA for a short period of time, they moved to Moses Lake where they lived on a small farm in Mae Valley and then moved into town in 1967. A graduate of the University of Idaho, she found education of the utmost importance and was now able to devote her life to teaching others until her retirement in 1977. She had a love of traveling and belonged to the Sandy Sam's RV club and spent many wonderful adventures traveling with life-long friends. She was also able to explore the world visiting Alaska, Hawaii, Japan, Europe and her greatest adventure, backpacking for a month in New Zealand at the age of 75. She also enjoyed other hobbies including gardening, playing the piano and up until a few weeks ago, weekly Bridge games. Several years after Ray's passing, she married Loren B Engles. They enjoyed many happy years traveling in their RV group with their dogs until his passing in 2003. Lucia was fortunate to find companionship with Willard Benson and enjoyed their time together up until his passing in 2012. Many people admired their love and friendship while they resided at the Hearthstone. Lucia was preceded in death by her parents and all 5 siblings, husbands Ray Trask and Loren Engles, as well as her special companion, Willard Benson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mardi Carroll, Grandson Michael Carroll and wife Terra and Great Grandsons, Tyler Carroll and Grant Carroll and one Great Granddaughter, Abigail Carroll.
