Ruby was born on May 3, 1928 in Volga, South Dakota to Ralph and Alma Schonewill. When Ruby was 9 years old, she and her family moved to Granger, Washington where Ruby often helped her father on the family farm. She attended and graduated from Granger High School where she met her future husband, Clyde. During their marriage, Ruby and Clyde lived in several different areas of Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Most of Ruby's married life was spent living and raising her family in Blackfoot, Idaho, Idaho Falls, Idaho and Moses Lake, Washington. Ruby and Clyde moved back to Moses Lake in 2012 to make it their final home.

Ruby worked several jobs in her lifetime; usually involving some form of bookkeeping work. Ruby owned and operated her own dress shop, Fashion Plus from 1978 to 1982.

All who knew Ruby were aware of her kind and giving personality. She was hard working, honest, strong, and what her family teased her about, having a little bit of Norwegian stubbornness.

Ruby had natural artistic talent that you could see in her painting, and was a fabulous cook. Most of all, Ruby dedicated herself to the love of her family and God.

Ruby would say not to worry about her; for she walks with the Angels now.
