Othello man charged for allegedly hitting jogger with car

EPHRATA - The Othello man arrested earlier this week for allegedly hitting a jogger with his car near Royal City Sunday night now faces charges in Grant County Superior Court.

Prosecutors recently charged Saul Angeles Pamas, 23, with second-degree assault, hit-and-run with injury to a person, and driving with a suspended license. His bail was set at $175.000.

Pamas voluntarily went to the Grant County Sheriff's Office in Ephrata Monday and was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and hit-and-run with injury to a person, according to a previous Columbia Basin Herald article.

The victim, Royal City resident Jackie Monney, 33, was reportedly running along Road 10 Southeast near state Route 262 Sunday evening when Pamas allegedly approached her and asked if she wanted a ride.

Monney declined and told Pamas she was exercising.

Pamas reportedly drove away but turned around and passed Monney, turning around again. Pamas then allegedly drove off the road and struck Monney from behind, knocking her to the ground.

He then allegedly turned around again and struck the victim a second time, dragging her a short distance before driving away.

Monney got the attention of a nearby property owner, who called 911. Monney was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.
