No evacuation ordered for Quincy area

| August 1, 2013 12:36 PM

GRANT COUNTY — Rumors of evacuation of health care facilities and in-home care providers in the Quincy area were confirmed false by the Grant County Sheriff’s office Thursday.

Local public safety agencies in the Quincy area received inquiries this morning regarding the rumored evacuation because of the Colockum Tarps Fire. The sheriff’s office spoke with the local agencies, including public information officers at the fire, and did not find any agency that issued evacuation orders in the Quincy area.

The Colockum Tarps Fire will not enter Grant County because the Columbia River separates the fire from the county, according to the sheriff’s office.
