MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake was well represented on the all-area Quad Cities River Bandits team as five players were selected.

Comprised of the best players from Chelan, Wenatchee, East Wenatchee and Moses Lake, little leaguers Chance Conahan, Cayden Hart, Carson Janke, Seth Olson and Jackson Purcell were named to the team. This past weekend, the team took first place in the 9U Smash n' Splash tournament in Moses Lake.

The River Bandits opened tournament play sweeping a twinn bill Friday with a 10-1 victory over the Kennewick Dukes and a 9-4 win over the Silverdale Sluggers in the nightcap.

Conahan contributed in a big way blasting a 2-run homerun against the Dukes. He also showed his skill from the mound striking out 10 in seven innings of work throughout the weekend.

On Saturday's semi-final, the team displayed its explosive offense against Mt. Rainier and secured a 15-3 victory and a trip to the championship game.

The River Bandits were able to leave with the championship after shutting out West Seattle, 9-0. Olson was able to lay down a key bunt that helped his team secure the win.

When the tournamnet wrapped up, the River Bandits outscored their competition 43-8.

Hart led the team with 9 hits and scored 9 runs. Janke connected for power through the tournament with six extra base hits. Purcell added 6 hits and was defensive presence throwing out three runners attempting to steal.
