Kara Garbe

| April 26, 2013 6:00 AM

Kara Garbe, 33, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in Moses Lake. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and teacher. Born in Wenatchee and raised in Moses Lake, Kara's two passions were teaching and raising dogs. She taught at Garden Heights, Chief Moses, and recently the online program through the Moses Lake School District. Kara cherished her students and the time she was able to spend with them. She loved teaching and always encouraged her students to do their best and to work hard to achieve their dreams. Kara loved her dogs and took great pride in breeding dogs and finding them loving homes. She bred one litter of dachshunds from her dog Abbey, and then several litters of golden retrievers. Her golden retrievers Kenya, Kona, and Sage brought her great joy and comfort. Following graduation from Moses Lake High School in 1997, Kara received her Associates degree from Big Bend Community College and then graduated from Whitworth College in 2001 with a Bachelors in education. She completed her Masters Degree in education from Eastern Washington University. Kara is survived by her parents Kerry and Barbara Garbe of Moses Lake; her sister Danielle Garbe of Beirut, Lebanon; her brother and sister-in-law Brandon and Amy Garbe, and their daughter Ava - Kara's, beloved niece - of Moses Lake. She also leaves behind a loving extended family, her grandmother Shirley Wagner, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Her family will always have her in their hearts and will always remember her laughter, beautiful smile, and kindness towards others. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruben and P. Jeanne Garbe and Ray Wagner, and by her uncle and aunt Charles and Melissa Wagner. The Garbe family is grateful to the community for all the love and support shown to Kara during her long battle with lupus and wants to especially thank the Moses Lake School District, Dr. Kearns and his nurse Liz, Dr. Byrd, and Dr. Barber all gave excellent medical care, and their compassion eased Kara's suffering.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, April 26 at 3:30 pm at Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Grape Drive. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory.
