MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man was arrested recently for alleged domestic violence by the Moses Lake Regional Tactical Response Team (TRT).

Christopher Lee Helgeson, 31, was arrested and booked into Grant County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, harassment threats to kill and fourth-degree assault, all resulting from alleged domestic violence, according to a Grant County Sheriff's Office statement.

Moses Lake police officers and Grant County deputies interviewed a victim, whose name was not released. The victim shows obvious signs of injuries allegedly caused by Helgeson, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators also discovered Helgeson is a convicted felon and may possess firearms. Based on the evidence collected, TRT responded with a search warrant to a home in the 2500 block of Elgin Road Northeast in Moses Lake. Helgeson reportedly came out of the home and was arrested without incident.

During a search of the home, investigators allegedly found ammunition and ammunition magazines for guns. Because Helgeson is a convicted felon, he is not allowed by law to possess these items and illegal firearms possession charges were added, according to the sheriff's office.

"This was a great piece of investigative teamwork by deputies and Moses Lake police," Sheriff Tom Jones commented. "Grant County law enforcement officers treat domestic violence as the serious crime that it is, and I am very proud of everyone involved for their hard work."
