BBCC student diagnosed with case of meningitis

| April 21, 2013 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - A student at Big Bend Community College was diagnosed with viral meningitis and hospitalized, college officials announced Thursday.

The Grant County Health District informed the college the disease is low risk to others because the virus is viral and not bacterial.

The student does not live in the residence halls and is not attending classes.

The college and the health district encourage everyone to practice normal sanitary procedures, including handwashing. Anyone who is feeling sick should visit their healthcare provider.

For more information, call the health district at 509-766-7960 or the Centers for Disease Control's website at www.cdc.gov/meningitis/viral.html.
