53 from Wahluke Junior High attend We Day

53 Wahluke Junior High students attended We Day in Seattle. They qualified by writing three essays. The teachers in the back are Mrs. Bre Kays, Mrs. Penny Matheson and Mr. Joel Dugan.
MATTAWA - Fifty-three Wahluke Junior High students went to We Day in Seattle recently fueled by the desire for change and the hope that the world can be a better place.
"We Day is the call that brings a generation together," Principal Sean Langdon said. "Wahluke Junior High students joined 15,000 other youths leading local and global change."
We Day included inspirational messages from actor J.R. Martinez, Molly Burke, Magic Johnson, Kid President and Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks. Even local junior high and high school students shared how they were able to make a positive impact in their own communities.
Each speaker shared positive messages, and raised awareness on issues that face our youths, Langdon said.
Speakers empowered youths, sharing ways that we can help join efforts to overcome problems faced in local communities, such as poverty, bullying and hunger.
"Wahluke Junior High students came back with an increased desire to make a positive impact in their global and local communities," Langdon said. "The Wahluke Junior High students who attended We Day have committed to make a positive impact here in their school and in Mattawa. We are so excited to see how the Wahluke Junior High will make a difference in their community."
