ROYAL CITY - The Knights Christian Guerrero scored two goals and Louis Alvarez add another in a 3-1 home win over the Granger Spartans Monday.

"The boys got back to winning ways (after a loss to Warden Saturday)" coach Jens Jensen said. "When we traveled to Granger early in the season we dropped the game 4-1 in a match that just seemed to get away from us.  We were expecting a response from the boys this round, and they showed good commitment and battled their way to the win."

Alvarez got Royal on the board first on a header off a corner kick at the 23 minute-mark to put the Knights up 1-0.

The Spartans answered back a minute later on a goal by R. Muniz to tie the match 1-1. Guerrero made it 2-1 Royal with his first goal of the game with two minutes left in the first half of play.

He added his second goal of the game in the 55th minute of play to push the Knights lead to 3-1 and round out the scoring for the match.

The win over Granger puts Royal at 7-3 and moves the Knights back into second place.

Royal is back on the pitch at home Thursday to face the league-leading Highland Scots.
