Gene D. Reichert

Gene D. Reichert, 80, long time resident and farmer of Othello, Washington passed on March 29 in Yuma, Arizona after a short battle with cancer.

He was born in Gering, Nebraska February 6, 1933 to Jacob "Jack"and Mary (Green) Reichert. He married Jeanie Wilhelm in 1951 in Lyman, Nebraska. He moved his family to Othello in 1964 where he farmed in the Othello and Royal Slope area for many years. He married Bette J. (Minor) (Hjelm) in 1981. He sold his farm in 2006 and they spent their winters in Arizona and summers between Washington, Montana and Nebraska. He enjoyed golfing, rodeo and watching all his grandkids in all their sports.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jacque Sue Roberts and grandson Hans Roberts, his parents Jack Sr. and Mary, one brother Jack Jr. and one brother-in-law Floyd A. "Buck" Minor plus numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.

He is survived by his wife Bette (B.J.) of Othello, daughter Peggy E. (Carl) Klingeman of Spokane, son David of Moses Lake, step-daughters Jeannie (John) Peterson of Glasgow, Montana and Janet Rodgers of Havre, Montana, brother Bob (Donna) Reichert of Othello, sister Florence Reichert of Santa Clarita, California, sister-in-laws Dorothy Reichert of Othello and Peg Hunt of Eagle, Idaho, uncles George (Leona) Green of Minatare, Nebraska and Robert Schuldies of El Cajon, California, son-in-law Lyndsy (Sally) Roberts of Ephrata, step-mother Helen Reichert of Othello, step-sister Sharon (Bob) Johnson of Cowley, Wyoming, step-brothers, Jack (Patty) Peppler of Othello and Jim Peppler of Tulsa, Oklahoma plus 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial service to be held June 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Othello Church of the Nazarene. Memorials may be given to the church or charity of choice in care of Bob & Donna Reichert - 243 N. 7th Ave. - Othello, WA. 99344.
