Moses Lake man Trooper of Year

MOSES LAKE - Trooper Tim Kron of Moses Lake has been chosen Washington State Patrol Trooper of the Year for 2012.

Kron was nominated as the District 6 trooper of the year by Sergeant Marcus Smith. He won and went on to be selected as the statewide Trooper of the Year.

According to Lt. Saunders of the WSP, Kron exemplifies the qualities and characteristics on which the State Patrol prides itself.

Kron was hired by the WSP in December of 2002, and commissioned in March 2004. He is a Field Training officer, tasked with training new troopers after they complete the academy.

Kron is a car seat technician. He assists in checking hundreds of car seats to be sure they are not expired and are installed properly.

Kron has received numerous awards and commendations, including a Chief’s coin for his efforts in speed enforcement, a WSP Bureau Commendation for his 2011 speed enforcement efforts, and the WSP Professional Excellence Award for his Seatbelt enforcement.

Kron received the 2012 Masonic Lodge Public Safety Award, and the Child Restraint Top Cop.
