YAKIMA - Kendall Sage shot the best round of her career with an 84 and was the low round medalist in the first league match in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) at the par 72 course at Apple Tree in Yakima Monday.

"I was very proud of Kendall's accomplishment," coach Heidi Burns said. "It was really important to her to go back to Apple Tree and beat her score from the previous Thursday at the Dolquist Invite.  She knew in order to beat her previous score she had to par more holes, which meant she needed to be aggressive around the green."

West Valley, Selah and Ephrata battled it out for early season bragging rights, and when the dust had settled, the Rams (415) were crowned the victor with a 5-stroke win over the Tigers who turned in a 420 team score. Selah finished with 583.

Ephrata's Kaotlyn Autry shot a 110, Katie Hillard carded 111, and Tressa Davis finished with a 115 to round out the team score for the Tigers.

"The win was bitter sweet for me," Burns said. "I was very happy for Kendall, but losing to West Valley by 5 strokes was very disappointing.  The golf team as a whole is a much better team than they showed yesterday (Monday). Still, we have a lot of work to do if we are going to be able to compete this season."

Ephrata is back on the links April 16 when the Tigers travel to Wapato to match up with the Wolves and the East Valley Red Devils.
