David Elliott

David Elliott, 74, passed away April 6, 2013, in Spokane, WA.

Viewing will be at Kayser's Chapel on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 10am-12:00 pm. The burial will take place at 2:00pm at Valley View Cemetery in Soap Lake. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, also in Moses Lake. David grew up in Dalton, GA and surrounding areas. He lost his father when he was 9 years old due to heart complications, he was 42 years old. He also lost his mother due to heart complications in 1989, she was 81 years old. He was the 8th child of 10 which included 3 brothers and 6 sisters. He enlisted into the Air Force at the age of 17 years old, he served 20 years and retired in 1976. During his time spent in the Air Force he was stationed in Moses Lake at Larson Air Force Base and he had a good friend that introduced him to Gladys Odegard, she was working at Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone. After dating for a short 3 months, they married on March 7, 1964. During their married life, they lived in Washington, California, North Carolina, and Georgia. They have 2 daughters, Laura (1964) and Carol (1966).

David spent several years as the company mechanic at Brown Printing in Dalton, GA before moving his family to Moses Lake in 1991 where he started working at Simplot as the company mechanic. He retired from Simplot in 2003 and become so bored after the first year he found another job working with People for People and absolutely loved his job. He was working the day he went into the hospital.

He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for the past 22 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle as well as watching westerns and Nascar and sharing Jesus with people.

He is survived by his daughters Laura Silvers (Daryl) of Moses Lake, and Carol Strong (Wayne) of Springfield, Oregon; sisters Joyce Welch (Ray), Eada Lois Nelson, Martha Carothers, Johnny Elliott (Sharon); 3 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 1 great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
