ROYAL SCHOOL BOND

Newcomers support Royal Bond

We recently moved back to the Royal Slope area after retiring from the west side (Lewis County, Packwood School District).

The Lewis County area was hard hit by the timber industry being depleted. Logging, mills and Forest Service were all affected.

This left very few jobs in Lewis County, and many people were re-trained in other job opportunities and left the east end of the county.

During these hard economic times a hospital and school bond were both passed. A new combined high school for Packwood-Randle-Morton was recently constructed and is the pride of our area.

Our children and grand-children have attended schools in Packwood, although we currently have no children in either Packwood or Royal. And even though dollars are very tight, we have always supported school bonds and levies to help further education to all students in the community.

The cost is not that great, considering how much it will help with over-crowded classrooms, furthering a better education for students. We feel it's an important asset for our community to support education.

The reason I was inclined to write this letter to the editor is due to the fact that we are shocked that people are against the bond when it is so reasonable and so needed.

Please, to you no voters, don't forget this is about students and not the personal issues that I've heard discussed. Join us with a yes vote for the Royal School Bond.
