Helen M. Gower

Helen M. Gower, 91, a resident of Moses Lake since the early 1950s was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, April 4, 2013. She was residing at Columbia Crest Care Facility with her daughter and friends at her side. Viewing will be from noon to 5 pm., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Kayser's Chapel and from 9 to 9:30, Wednesday, April 10 at the Church of Christ. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at the Church of Christ, 808 E. Sharon Ave. with Micah Powless, officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Helen was born on June 23, 1921 in Ramona, Oklahoma daughter of the late Elzie and Jennie (Baker) Atterberry. She was raised and educated in Ramona and was married to Henry Tucker. They had four children. She married James LeRoy Gower on September 2, 1947 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Cheney, Washington where Helen worked as a nurse at Medical Lake. They moved to Moses Lake in the early 1950's and she began working at Samaritan Hospital and later J.C. Penney before going to work for the Moses Lake School District as a bus driver. She retired in the late 1980s.

Helen enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends, especially at Shari's and Perkins. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Herbort; one daughter-in-law, Dorothy Tucker; sisters, Ellen, Alice and Lola; brother, Oscar; many grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, and husband James, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donnie and Albert Tucker, one daughter, Margaret Houston, sisters, Annie, Doris, Cynthia Jean and Rose, brothers, Wesley and Georgie.
