MOSES LAKE - Kids at the Children of Grace Preschool and Child Care Center now have more room to play.

Kelly Lewis, Children of Grace director, previously ran the center out of the Grace Harvest Church in Moses Lake. However, she moved operations into a new facility near Big Bend Community College about two weeks ago, she said Monday.

The new child care center now has a full kitchen, three classrooms, a newborn unit and a multipurpose room. Lewis said the old center didn't have these features.

The center also has access to soccer and baseball fields, grassy areas and a gym located nearby, according to a previous Columbia Basin Herald article.

Renovations at the new center began earlier this year, Lewis said.

"We did a lot of remodeling," she said. "We took out walls, put up room dividers and put in new carpet."

Lewis said she couldn't have opened the new facility without the help she received from community members, friends and family members.

Volunteers helped with construction, painting and other remodeling projects, she said. One of the projects involved setting up cameras in each of the classrooms, said Lewis.

"Having all of this is just amazing," she said.

The center accepts newborns and children up to age 12. Children of Grace currently cares for about 60 kids, said Lewis, but the center will be accepting new children since the new facility has more space.

Lewis said the center is open from 4 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week. She said she chose to include non-traditional hours in order to cater to parents with busy schedules.

"I don't want parents to have to stress," she said. "If they're running late or working at night, they can still find childcare."

The new center is located at 6378 Arnold Dr. NE, next to the Church in Moses Lake.
