Vets to celebrate birthday

YAKIMA - The U.S. Submarine Veterans of Central and Eastern Washington will host a party celebrating the 113th Birthday of the U.S. Submarine Force on Saturday, April 13.
The birthday party will take place from 4:30-9:30 p.m. at Howard Johnson's in Yakima. U.S. submarine veterans and their families are invited. Call Mark Briggs at (509) 480-8245 to register.
A solemn Tolling of the Bells ceremony will honor the memory of all lost U.S. Submarines and the brave men who rode them. Submariners will display personal memorabilia of their time in the Silent Service.
Kurt Labberton, a Yakima area submariner-turned-dentist, will be the guest speaker.
