David L. Taylor

David L. Taylor, 76, of Ephrata passed away at his home on April 2, 2013.

David was born to the late Paul Taylor and Dorothy Wariner on August 18, 1936 in the town of Leavenworth, WA. At age 8, his family moved to Pendelton, OR. In 1948, the family relocated to Okanogan, WA. David graduated from Okanogan H.S. in 1954. After high school, David enlisted in the United States Navy, and was honorably discharged in 1956.

In 1958, David moved to Ephrata and worked at Johnson Motors until 1967 when he began working for Robinson-Thomas Motors until 1974.

In 1959, he was married to Edith Arnold. They had three sons, Larry of Ephrata, Mark of Wenatchee, and Brian of Othello.

David became a volunteer with the Ephrata Fire Department in 1961. He held an officer position for over 20 years that included five years as Fire Chief. He retired from the fire department after 23 years of service.

David found his true calling when he began working with the Grant County Sheriff's Office in 1977. He started as a corrections officer and moved to patrol. One of the most enjoyable times was a K-9 handler with his partner Gard. David put on many demonstrations of Gard's abilities at schools and community events. David retired as a patrol sergeant in 2001.

David is predeceased by his two sisters, Molly, and his twin, Doris.

Survived by his brother, Robert Taylor of Paradise, AZ, his three sons, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1100 am at the Ephrata American Legion, Post 429. 276 8th Avenue NW, Ephrata, WA.
