Quincy teenager allegedly in fight, charged as adult

EPHRATA - A 17-year-old Quincy youth is being charged as an adult for his alleged involvement in a fight in which a pregnant teenage girl was reportedly beaten with a board.

Jaime Adame Hernandez, Jr. was charged in Grant County Superior Court last week with three counts of second-degree assault and one count of obstructing a law enforcement officer. Initially, Adame Hernandez was charged as a juvenile, but after a December hearing his case was moved to adult court.

Quincy police were dispatched June 12, 2012, to a report of a disturbance in progress, according to court records. According to the police report, when an officer arrived at the scene he witnessed an altercation in progress. One male allegedly was swinging a wooden object at the victim's boyfriend. It was later confirmed that the object was a wooden board, according to court documents.

The officer stopped the fight and the individuals fled. The officer reportedly observed a young girl lying on the ground shaking violently. According to the police report, after the victim was taken to the hospital it was revealed that she was four months pregnant. A doctor's examination revealed no broken bones and no harm done to the child.

After being caught by police, Adame Hernandez and fellow defendant Julian Ortega were arrested and taken in for questioning. Both declined to provide a statement to police and were taken to jail.

After pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree assault, Ortega was sentenced to a year and four months in prison last September.
