Marine auction organizers grateful

| September 28, 2012 6:00 AM

Thank you Moses Lake, we knew this town would not let us down.

The sellout crowd at the Nick Kimmel benefit dinner/auction this last Saturday night was a great example of the quality of people that make up this small town.

There was $100,000 raised on Saturday night. We have raised over $10,000 in the scrap metal drive, thanks to a number of people and Genie Industries. $15,000 had previously been donated before Saturday night. We have raised close to $125,000 at this time.

A big thank you to the committee that has worked so hard in such a short period of time, the Yarbro family, Dave Dollarhide, Randy Pixton, Shari Johnson, Jacob Rimple, Mike Hamilton and Michael's on the lake.

This fundraiser will continue for another month. Our goal is to raise a total of $150,000. Donations can be made at Yarbro Auctions, 213 S. Beach St. or Washington Trust Bank.

We have a three person committee to help oversee the spending of the funds. This committee consists of Dave Dollarhide, Clayton Lynch, and Chris Hansen.

They will be working directly with Nick Kimmel, and no money will be spent on overhead expenses. Scrap metal may still be donated at J and K recycling, 13624 Frontage Rd. or Moses Lake Iron and Metals, 228 W. Commerce Way.

The family will still appreciate air miles that anyone may have to donate. Help us reach our goal and thank you again Moses Lake.
