Out of 75 registrations, 60 people participated in the 5K race., raising a total of $4,200 for BBCC student scholarships. According to Oakes, this doubled last year's turnout. The registration fee of $25 included a race T-shirt for participants and a donation to the scholarship fund.

The race course was line with cheerleaders from Moses Lake High School and BBCC Phi Theta Kappa members to pep up racers and music was provided by Diane Ecret, of Moses Lake.

"It's a neat opportunity for the community to support our kids," Oakes said. "And it was really fun. We get all excited out there."

Sponsors included Hair Club, REC Silicon, Team Reliv, Chemi-Con, Moses Lake Community Health, Michaelle Boetger Graphic Designs, Business Interior & Equipment, Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, Moses Lake Parks and Recreation, Moses Lake Trails Planning Team, Shirtbuilders, Michael's on the Lake, Ecret Entertainment, Anytime Fitness, Moses Lake, Bruce Snyder State Farm Insurance, Big Bend Community College and the Big Bend Community College Foundation.
