Shirley Jean Wixson

Shirley Jean Wixson, 69, will be greatly missed and forever loved, as she has passed away at the Central Washington Valley Hospital on Friday September 14, 2012, after a long fight with cancer.

Shirley was a resident of Ephrata, WA, where she lived a long happy life with her husband of 32 years, Marvin Wixson. She moved to Ephrata, with her family in 1946, where she attended school K-12 and graduated in 1961. Later Shirley became co-owner of the Ephrata Auto Parts store where she spent many hours working alongside her daughter Denise Helmick.

Shirley was a proud member of the American Legion Unit 28 Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles, the Moose, the Elks, and the Soap Lake Rod and Gun Club.

In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, visiting the casinos, playing cards with her friends, snowmobiling, going to the cabin, but most of all, spending time with her family.

Survived by her husband Marv Wixson of Ephrata, WA - her daughter, Denise Helmick and her husband Earl Helmick of Ephrata, WA - her stepson, John Wixson and his wife Tobra Wixson of Moses Lake, WA - her grandchildren, Chrystal and Casey Helmick of Ephrata, WA and Fiona and Gunnar Wixson of Moses Lake, WA - her great granddaughter Jasmine Helmick of Ephrata, WA - her brother, Paul Swanson of Ephrata, WA - her sister Judy DeVaul and her husband Frank DeVaul of Chehalis, WA - and many other family and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Al and Louise Swanson.

A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Post 28, 276 8th Ave. N.W., Ephrata, WA 98823 on September 29 at 11:00 a.m.
