Reader decries left-leaning education

| September 21, 2012 6:00 AM

A recent edition of the CBH provided two good examples of the product of our failed educational system. Both letters to the editor intimate that of the two major political parties, only the liberals stand for advancement and progress. One writer would teach us the logic that Tea Party conservatives only want to look to the past. Both are examples that only a liberal viewpoint is an educated viewpoint and is therefore relevant. Any other is just a halfwit hick's pining for days gone by.

Me, I don't like to be labeled by anyone but I will put one on myself. I'm a Constitutional Independent who leans Libertarian. This is a nation of laws, a constitutional republic. Not a nation to be ruled over by whomever holds elected office, let alone obeying and enforcing the law as they choose.

Those who espouse growing government and taking from the half of this nation who produce, to give to the half who choose not to, are the ones living in the past. That was tried and failed countless times in history: Rome, Greece, the Soviet Union, Cuba, etc.

Creating more and more rules, regulationas and laws is stifling investment, innovation and personal freedom. It doesn't make us safer.

Our "educators" no longer teach that our Constitution is the supreme law of the land or the wisdom of those who asked for divine guidance to draft it. They will denigrate those srcrappy revolutionaries and the millions of men and women who've gone in harms way to protect and spread the idea of true liberty: a birthright given by our Creator, not a privilege granted to us by mere men.

Just as no two people always agree, so too no two Tea Party members or conservatives, or even liberals. Just so you know.
