George Richard (Dick) Brockway

George Richard (Dick) Brockway, 89 years old, died at Samaritan Hospital on September 11, 2012. He spent the last 13 years living in Soap Lake, WA; and he had previously lived in Ephrata for 43 years. He was born in Helena Montana on January 28, 1923 to Harry and Martha Brockway.

George was married to Lucille on September 30, 1944 for 52 years. He was enrolled in the United States Navy in 1942 and served aboard the USS Nevada during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945 at the war's end. He was the manager of House Laundry and Dry Cleaning for 35 years. He loved fishing, bowling, but mainly watching his grandkids participating in Athletic Events, was his favorite thing to do.

George is survived by his children: Dick (Judy) Brockway of Coulee Dam, WA; Lynn (Dan) Tyler of Moses Lake, WA; Renie (Gary) Melcher of Odessa, WA; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and special friend Dolly Aslakson of Soap Lake, WA; a sister Betty Jane of Helena, Mt; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Harry Brockway, his mother Martha Brockway, his wife Lucille, his brothers: Bill Brockway, Jim Brockway, Jack Brockway, and his grandson Jeff.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Nicoles Funeral Home with interment and Military Honors to follow at Ephrata City Cemetery. A viewing will be held before the service at 10AM at Nicoles Funeral Home at 157 C St NW, Ephrata, WA.
