Ruth E. Roach

| September 18, 2012 6:00 AM

Ruth E. Roach passed into eternal life on September 13, 2012. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.

She was born to Guy and Lulu (Pettengill) Farrens on Oct. 31, 1920 near Clarinda, Iowa. She grew up in the Clarinda area. She was married to Robert H. Roach on August 7, 1940. They were married for 50 years until Robert passed away in 1991. They farmed with Robert's parents until they were able to buy a farm of their own in southeastern Iowa. They farmed there until they had to move because of Ruth's severe asthma. While in Iowa they had four children.

The family moved to Wilson Creek, Washington in August of 1956 where Ruth taught third and fourth grades. In 1965 the family moved to Mae Valley to farm and Ruth continued teaching, spending time at Penninsula Elementary and in Royal City. She left teaching and worked at Carnation Foods until her retirement. She then volunteered one day per week at the Calico Cat organizing their book room. One of Ruth's greatest joys was reading; she always had a book by her side.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, daughter Carol Morris, and sister Edith Holestine. She is survived by son Robert D, Roach, two daughters; Patricia (Norm) Getzinger and Joyce Blundell, eight grandchildren; Robert Morris, Christopher Morris, Melissa (Morris) Nimmo, Damon Blundell, Derrick Blundell, John Getzinger, Michael Getzinger, and James Getzinger; along with 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Monday September 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at Moses Lake Event Center, 1475 E. Nelson Road.
