Desert Golf Classic a huge success

MOSES LAKE - The 11th annual Samaritan Healthcare Foundation Desert Golf Classic held at Moses Pointe Golf Course Aug. 30 was a huge success.

The event netted $18,428. The proceeds will go toward the purchase of a new 80 plus slice Computed Tomography (CT) scanner at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

"The total cost to purchase the scanner is $780,404," Dave Campbell, executive director of the Samaritan Healthcare Foundation said. "Our goal is to raise $500,000 over the next 12 months. We hope to purchase the scanner in late 2012."

Campbell said Samaritan Healthcare will provide the remaining balance of $280,404.

The CT scanner utilizes computer-processed X-rays to produce tomographic images of 'slices' of specific areas of the body.

The Desert Classic is the biggest fundraising event for Samaritan.

Adding to the excitement of the tournament was a rare double-eagle on hole No. 6. by the Washington Trust wealth management team from Spokane.
