Gerald "Jerry" Stevens

Funeral services for Gerald "Jerry" Stevens, age 71, of Thatcher, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Church Street LDS Chapel with Bishop David Udall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Thatcher Cemetery.

Jerry was born October 24, 1940 in Price Utah, the son of Gerald Sr. and Fern Powell Stevens.  At the age of 5, Jerry's family moved to Colville, Washington.  Jerry spoke often of fond memories of his high school where he played and excelled in football.  After graduating, Jerry enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Japan.  He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Eastern Atlantic States.  Jerry attended BYU where he met Katherine Eloise Heap and they were later married in June of 1966 for all time and eternity in the Mesa, AZ Temple.  Throughout his life, Jerry's ambition and love was farming and he owned and operated his farm in Colville, Washington.  After retirement, Jerry and Kathy served a mission in the Tennessee Nashville Mission.  Jerry and Kathy moved to Arizona in 2011 to enjoy being near family.  

Survivors include his wife; Kathy of Thatcher, children: Heather Cochran of Thatcher,  Jennifer Hunsaker (Doug) of Lake Stevens, WA, David Stevens (Rachel) of Bountiful, UT, John Stevens (Linda) of Centerville, UT, Holly Rosenlund (Gordon) of Olathe, Kansas, Darin Stevens (Chanel) of Post Falls, ID, and Benjamin Stevens (Clara) of Spring Hill, Kansas and 27 grandchildren.  In addition, Jerry is survived by his brother and sisters: Geraldine Morgan, Carolyn Fosback, Marilyn Michael, Robert Stevens, Donald Stevens, and Joan Gardner.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
