| September 7, 2012 1:00 PM

QUINCY - The annual Quincy Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival at Twin Firs Turf Farm will be held this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, to coincide once again with the Farmer Consumer Awareness Day.

"After enjoying the day's festivities at FCAD, we hope you join us Saturday Evening for our balloon night glow," balloon fest organizer Kim Bacon said.

This is a family friendly evening with something for everyone. Lawn chairs, blankets and cameras are suggested. Spectator information and photography tips are available on the website.

All balloon launches will be from Twin Firs Turf Farm and are contingent on weather. They will occur at sunrise or approximately 6 a.m. The public is welcome to watch free of charge as the balloons take to the sky.

The Six Chuter Powered Parachute Association will be at the festival selling Powered Parachute rides all day on Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $50 for a 15-20 minute Discovery Flight. For more information call Tim Vedder at (509) 764-3003.

Twin Firs will open at 5 p.m. with food and beverages available for purchase. A beer and wine garden will feature local wines along with Ancient Lakes Brewery and Iron Horse Brewery from Ellensburg

Back by popular demand will be the award-winning Steve Sogura as Elvis. He will perform at 6:45 p.m. and again after the fireworks.

At dusk, the balloons will illuminate the nighttime sky, followed by Fireworks. Elvis will close out the evening.

The price of admission will be $20 a car load (up to 6 people).
