Dennis Hanson

| September 7, 2012 6:00 AM

Longtime Moses Lake resident, Dennis Hanson was called to heaven on Sunday morning, Sept. 2. He was a born in Minnesota and moved to eastern Washington in 1972. Dennis truly loved the people, culture, and natural surroundings of the Columbia Basin. Born in 1945 to Burton and Isabelle Hanson, Dennis grew up on a farm near the rural town of Lake Benton, Minnesota. He attended SDSU in Brookings, SD, and earned a BS in Agricultural Business. He entered the U.S. Army during the height of the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Turkey and West Germany. During that time, he and his high-school sweetheart, Muriel Lange, were married.

After his military service, Dennis moved to Washington and worked as an agricultural and commercial loan officer, servicing many local farmers and businesses in our area.

Dennis was an honorable, patriotic, God-loving man. He was a tender father and grandfather and a trusted friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, hiking, family road trips, taking pictures, and creating beautiful Christmas light displays. He leaves behind Muriel, his wife of 44 years, two daughters and their families: Erin and Chad Huff, Shawn and Scott West. Grandchildren Nicole and Dominick Heroux, Addison and Ian Huff, Trevor and Brooke West will miss him. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Lage, and his twin brother, Dale Hanson and their families.

The Lutheran Faith has been a lifelong mainstay in Dennis' life. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Moses Lake Washington. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the church or the American Heart Association are greatly appreciated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 8, at 4 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory, Moses Lake.
