Second Harvest to distribute food in Warden today

| November 20, 2012 5:15 AM

WARDEN — The Second Harvest Mobile Food Bank will be distributing food from its truck Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Warden School parking lot, 101 Beck Way.

Families who receive food should bring a box for transport. Families sign in when they arrive, but no additional paperwork is required.

The program distributes fresh foods to needy families in communities served by food banks that don’t have adequate refrigeration for perishable foods, said Theresa Adkinson, of the Grant County Health District. “The Warden Food Pantry serves more than 200 families each year but lacks adequate refrigeration for healthy food storage.”

Warden school nurse Kimberly Hansen asked Second Harvest to make a stop in Warden to supplement the food pantry’s storage. A Warden High School student volunteered to find additional refrigeration.
