Margaret 'Pearl' Weber

| November 17, 2012 5:00 AM

Margaret 'Pearl' Weber was born to Jacob and Sarah Peters on May 8, 1915. One of eight children, she grew up on the family farm in Warden (then Reidel), Washington. She attended Warden Schools and graduated as Valedictorian of her class in 1933. She married Sam Weber on June 30, 1937 and the couple had two children who they raised in Moses Lake.

Pearl owned and operated LeeAnn's dress shop in downtown Moses Lake from 1958-1965. After selling the shop, she worked at the Moses Lake Sears store from 1967 until her retirement in 1975.

She was a devoted Christian and was active in the church for her adult life. She spent more than 60 years as a Sunday School teacher, teaching generations about the love of God. "Aunt Pearl" always had time for her Sunday School students and maintained relationships with many of them well into their adult years.

Pearl and Sam loved to entertain, regularly hosting family and friends for meals at their home. Those meals were homemade and frequently featured her famous cinnamon rolls. Her dry sense of humor and outgoing nature helped her make friends easily with everyone she met.

She and Sam lived in Moses Lake, first on Alder and then on Catalpa Street, until 2000 when she and Sam moved to the home of her daughter and son-in-law in East Wenatchee. Never being someone who met a stranger, Pearl and Sam quickly began attending Eastmont Baptist Church where they attended until Sam's death in 2002.

She spent her last years in the care of the staff at Amber Waves Boarding House in Waterville, Washington. Pearl passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 following an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jacob and Sarah Peters; Sisters Annie Peters, Mae Peters and Lillian Jeske and Brothers Albert, Walter, Charlie and Bill Peters. She was also preceded in death by Sam Weber, her beloved husband of 65 years.

She is survived by her son Dick (Linda) Weber of Joplin, Missouri; daughter Marge (Keith) Koeppe of East Wenatchee, WA. She had five grandchildren: Kasey Williamson of Plover, WI, Eric Weber of Richardson, TX, Mark (Lucy) Weber of Prairie Village, KS, Kate West of Lynnwood, WA and Rob (Heather) West of Moses Lake, WA. She also had 12 Great-Grandchildren: Brittany Hoffman, Zach Hoffman, Jason Williamson, Ranessa Williamson, Jack Weber, Paul Weber, Adam Weber, Kate Weber, John Weber, Willie West, Sam West and Renee West. There are also numerous (way too many to name) nieces and nephews on both the Peters and Weber sides of the family.

There will be an internment service at the Quincy Cemetery on Saturday, December 1st followed by a memorial service at the Old Pioneer Church at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at the Grainery Restaurant.

Arrangements are being made by Heritage Memorial Chapel of East Wenatchee. Please sign the on-line guest book or leave a note for the family at www.heritagememorialchapel.com.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in her name to the Quincy Valley Historical Society, PO Box 1003, Quincy, WA 98848.
