Mattawa property tax to rise

| November 9, 2012 5:00 AM

MATTAWA - Property taxes will rise by one percent for 2013, the Mattawa City voted at its meeting last week.

There was a public hearing on the matter, City Clerk Robin Newcomb said, but there were no objections.

In other business, the council approved a petition for annexation by Cecil Mellinger for a property near the city limit. The next action on that matter will be a public hearing to be announced.

The public works department announced it has leased a 50-by-50 foot building for equipment storage at $15,000 for 12 months.

The council approved a contribution of $500 to the Grant County Health District as financial support for its services. The GCHD made a presentation about those services before the vote.

Council had no objection to a liquor license renewal for Mattawa Shell.
