Jeanette Louise (Kiser) Wright

| November 7, 2012 5:00 AM

Jeanette was born on July 12, 1937 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Grace Kiser. She attended the Iowa City Public Schools and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1955, and the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1959. She married Larry Wright on Jan. 3, 1958 in Iowa City. Following his graduation in 1960, she and Dr. Wright lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Springfield, Missouri, Staten Island, New York, Redmond, Washington and settled in Moses Lake in 1990.

She is survived by her husband Dr. Larry Wright of Moses Lake, sister Ellen Kiser Grainger of Virginia Beach, VA, half siblings Evelyn Newlin of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marie Mickey of Vancouver, WA, Raymond Kiser of Arvada, CO, Paul Kiser of Longmont, CO, and Ruth Gourley of Mesa, AZ; children David L Wright, daughter in law Barbara, and granddaughter Jennifer of Anaheim, CA; Julia A Reed-Voldal, son in law Eric Voldal, of Redmond, WA and grandson Joshua Kiser Reed of Kirkland, WA; and Jonathan A Wright, daughter in law Tabitha, and grandchildren Austin and Alexis of Parker CO, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and the glue that kept her family and extended family in touch with each other. Her children describe her as slow to anger and quick to lend a hand whenever and wherever she was needed. Her strong faith in Christ was always evident. As a mother she was involved in all of her children's activities including sports, music, Scouts and Campfire Girls, where she was also a leader.

Jeanette practiced Pharmacy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa during Larry's final year of medical school and his internship and then again after moving to Moses Lake until her illness prevented her from working.

Other activities included many handcrafts, that began with sewing as a necessity to have new clothes, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her sewing skills included teaching her sister to sew, as well as making clothes for her children and grandchildren. Many of the grandchildren's dresses and her other sewing projects won ribbons at the Grant County Fair as did a lot of her canning and preserving of the many fruits and vegetables from their garden.

She was always active in church throughout her life. She taught Sunday School, sang in choirs, played hand bells, served as a Deacon in First Presbyterian Church of Moses Lake, led Bible Studies and Small Group activities. She was also active in PEO and was a regional representative to their national meeting several years ago, and in past years was a volunteer at Crossroads Resource Center.

Jeanette's departure from this life on Nov. 4, 2012 and entry into the care of her Heavenly Father' and Lord Jesus Christ comes after a battle of more than 26 years with congestive heart failure. She had celebrated an early Thanksgiving with her husband, sister, children and grandchildren the day before. The family especially wants to thank the many friends who have provided emotional support over the years and to thank Hospice for her excellent care in recent weeks.

A celebration of Life is taking place at First Presbyterian Church under the direction of Pastor Curt McFarland on Tuesday Nov. 6 at 2:00 p.m. with burial following at Guarding Angels Cemetery in Moses Lake. Instead of flowers, gifts in Jeanette's honor are suggested to the American Heart Association or to Crossroads Resource Center of Moses Lake. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are under the care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.
