YAKIMA - Lizzy McGraw and Alysha Overland scored a goal each to lead the Chiefs to a 2-1 road win over the Pirates Saturday. The victory knocked Davis out of postseason play and gives Moses Lake back to back district championships and the No. 1 seed heading into the state tournament Wednesday.

"The girls played well ... were able to get a couple goals and hold Davis to only one score," coach Ric Char said. "We had a little letdown on defense in the center of the field that led to the goal, but held on to win and move on to state."

McGraw (London Cleverly) got the Chiefs on the board first at the 20:50 mark to put Moses Lake up 1-0. Davis answered back with a goal by Marla Meza (Mckenna Morton) 40 seconds later to tie the match 1-1 to end the first half scoring.

It didn't take long for the Moses Lake to retake the lead in the second half of play as an Overland header off a Mauseth corner kick crossed the line despite a gallant effort by the Pirate keeper to deny the score at the 41st minute of play for the winning goal.

Davis threatened several times throughout the match, but the Chiefs keeper Jeanette Alvarado came up big for Moses Lake with five saves in the contest.

The win over the Pirates sets up a first round state home match against Camas Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Lions Field
