| November 3, 2012 6:00 AM

EPHRATA - Deputy Kyle Cox was promoted to the position of Detective on September 25th.

Cox, a deputy since 2000, was promoted from a promotional civil service list.

"The Detective's position has an extremely important role in the sheriff's office," Sheriff Tom Jones said.

Jones swore Cox in to his new position in front of a large contingent of family and co-workers. It is the first major crimes detective promotion since 1988.

"I want to pass on a sincere thank you to the Grant County Commissioners for seeing the need and approving the position," Jones said. "I know that Kyle will do a great job for us".

Cox had been filling a temporary Detective's position while an employee in the major crimes unit was on military leave.
