Wilson Creek superintendent placed on leave

| November 2, 2012 6:00 AM

WILSON CREEK - Wilson Creek School District Superintendent Brad Smedley has been placed on paid administrative leave, pending investigation into an unspecified incident.

"I'm not going to comment at this time," Smedley said when contacted by the Herald on Wednesday.

Wilson Creek School Board chair Paul Friend also declined to answer questions. "I have no comment at this time. That's all I have to say right now," Friend said.

Smedley has been Wilson Creek superintendent since July 2009. Previously he was principal at Columbia Ridge Elementary in Ephrata, and principal at Garden Heights Elementary in Moses Lake prior to that. He replaced Linda McKay, who became the executive director for elementary education for the Moses Lake School District.

Principal Brenda Welch has been named the acting superintendent in Wilson Creek.
