Reader questions taxes

It is time to pay our second half property taxes. On March 30 I wrote to the county treasurer because our property taxes had gone up 47% from the year before. There has been no response. Is there anything that can be done about this? Is there anyone out there that can help? I worked all my life in a people-helping profession and saved as best we could so we could have a home for our children and grandchildren to visit in but this kind of increase will soon take our home from us.
