Gratitude for Relay event turnout

| November 2, 2012 6:00 AM

This past Saturday evening we held our first adult Halloween Bash Out Cancer costume party fundraiser for Relay For Life at Pillar Rock Grill.

The response and support we received from the community was amazing. Over 100 people attended and approximately $5,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society before expenses.

Thank you to those that donated prizes for best costumes and bonus basket drawings, Michael's Bistro & Pillar Rock Grill for selling tickets, Don McGraw for use of the vehicle to transport the band, Mike Hamilton for having them play at the Bistro on Friday, Jon McDowell for an event venue, Columbia Basin Herald & Dale Roth for advertising and everyone that attended and had a great time.

Special thanks to Tom Willner, Adam Colletta, Lee Hansen, Kile Jackson and Wade Reeves, (Tom Willner & Urban Blue), for the fantastic music that kept us all on the dance floor all night long and to Donna Anderson, Kelly Grote & Don Moore for helping put it all together Saturday morning!

After receiving almost 50 messages and numerous calls about how much fun the event was we have decided to make it an annual fundraising event. We have tentatively set the date for Saturday, October 26, 2013 and Tom Willner & Urban Blue have agreed to once again provide the music.

It really does take a community to take up the fight against cancer and I am proud to be a part of a community that shows such tremendous support of Relay For Life.
