Noel Scott

Noel Scott, 98, long time Moses Lake resident, passed away on October 28, 2012 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Kayser's Chapel. Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake. Noel A. Scott was born on November 17, 1913 in Almartha, Missouri, Ozark County, to Jake and Maggi Scott and was one of nine children. Noel was 13 when his father died and had to quit school to help support the family. During his younger years, Noel worked with his uncle in a corn and grain mill, cleared land for farming and worked in Kansas during wheat harvest. During the Depression Noel and a cousin left Missouri and came to Snohomish, Washington to look for work where he met Geneva McDaniel. They were married on Oct. 31, 1936 in Snohomish, Washington Noel worked in logging near Skykomish, Washington. until 1945 when he moved his family to Moses Lake and worked for the City of Moses Lake Parks Dept. until his retirement in 1973. Noel was a tireless worker in developing McCosh and other parks, planting large shade trees that you see in Moses Lake parks today. He worked weekends without pay in building kids playgrounds around the city. Noel always had horses and was a skilled horseman, he raised and trained POA horses (Ponies of America) and enjoyed building things with his hands. After retirement Noel operated several small farms in Block 40 of Moses Lake and Zillah, Washington. In 1988 Noel and Geneva moved to Everett, Washington for medical treatment and moved back to Moses Lake in 1993.

Noel is survived by his wife of 76 years, Geneva Scott , son Rondo Scott and wife Peggy of Wellton, Az., son Roger Scott of Moses Lake, daughter Shirley Hansen and husband Greg of Moses Lake, brother Guy Scott of Ava, Missouri, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Noel was a kind, soft spoken and gentle man, a family man loved by his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
