Lela Edna (Howe) Bartley Clover

| November 1, 2012 6:00 AM

Lela Edna (Howe) Bartley Clover was born September 18, 1934 in Buckeye, AZ to Frank Henry and Elva Rebecca (Maxwell) Howe. She passed away October 25, 2012 at home in Moses Lake, WA after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

She was raised in Arizona and attended Chandler High School where she lettered in women's archery and volleyball. She married her high school sweetheart Buddy Bartley in 1951. They traveled around where Buddy's excavating work took them. They ended up settling down in Moses Lake where they raise their family. Lela retired from the Moses Lake School District after 30 years of service.

Lela was known for her unconditional love to everyone - she always had an open heart and open home. Many people visited and even lived with her from time to time... "Just add another cup of water to the soup" she would say. Anyone who visited knows about her famous biscuits and gravy.

Lela's life with her family was spent doing all the things she loved;4-H, fishing, camping and boating. She was always the first one to water ski, snow ski, and put a worm on the hook. Every afternoon you could drive by and see GG out changing her sprinklers.

GG loved her grandkids and loved to spend time with them. Her eyes would light up when any of them stopped by. Lela was involved with the Moses Lake Food Bank, Moses Lake Eagles and Senior Center.

Lela is preceded in death by her parents, Elva and Frank Howe, her husband's Buddy Bartley and Weldon Clover. She is survived by her three daughters Janice (Eldon) Widmer, Judy Shively and Karry (Frank) Jones; grandkids Matthew Shinn, Brooke Shinn, Brandy Shively, Jackie (Andrew) Bridges, Scott Shively, Casey Jones, Cody Jones and great-grandkids Baylee, Nicholas, Kaya, Bella and Jaxson.

We cherish all the times we had with you mom and all the memories you leave us. It's not how you leave the earth that counts - it's how you lived while on it.

A Celebration of Lela's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Moses Lake Assembly of God, 431 E. Brown Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837. Burial and concluding services will immediately follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens, Moses Lake. A reception will follow in the Moses Lake Eagles Lodge, 1517 W. Broadway Ave., Moses Lake, for all friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Moses Lake Eagles Relay for Life.

Friends and family are invited to share memories and sign the family's on-line guest book at www.carverfamilyfuneralhome.com. Lela's family has asked Carver Family Funeral Home to care for final arrangements.
