Enhanced Rock & Ride slated for June 16

GEORGE – The annual Quincy Valley Rock & Ride bicycle tour  will be held on Saturday, June 16, and it promises to be better than ever.

This year's Rock & Ride will be a combined promotion of the George Community Hall, Quincy Valley Tourism Association and Twin Firs Turf-Parties on the Green.

Riders are invited to finish the day at Twin Turf. The QVTA will have a beer and wine garden there, and parties on the Green will have barbecue and fireworks show.

The Rock & Ride and the lunch that follows will end around 3 p.m. at the George Community Hall. The gates at Twin Firs will open at 4 p.m.

There will be a 6 p.m. barbecue at Twin Firs. The 5-10 wine and beer garden will lead up to the fireworks.

Rock & Ride will start with registration at 5:30 a.m. at the George Community Hall. The 100-mile and 70-mile riders will depart at 6 a.m. Registratioin forms are available at www.quincyvalley.org.

The 30-mile riders will leave at 8 a.m, and the 10-mile riders will head out at 9 a.m. Lunch, which features hamburgers, hot dogs and potatoes will begin at 10:30 at the community hall kitchen.

There will be live music by The Great Pretenders.

Rock & Ride is a tour of the “beautiful Columbia Basin,” according to community hall coordinator Debby Kooy. Riders of all ages are welcome. The tour will begin and end at George Community Park.

“It will be a Father's Day weekend everyone can enjoy,” she said.
