Moses Lake track places at state

TACOMA - The Chiefs track teams had a successful outing at the 4A Washington State Track and Field Meet in Tacoma last weekend.
The girls places 17th out of 40 teams. Cameron Law, the only state qualifier for the boys, placed sixth out of 16 as he cleared 13-06 in the pole vault event.
"It was a very exciting time for Cameron and his teammates," coach Kevin Whittall said. "I was so happy to see the huge amount of progress for him this year. And what is more exciting, is that he is just a junior, and we should look forward to see what he has in store for us next year."
Girls
Several Chiefs turned in outstanding performances at the meet. Alysha Overland placed fourth in a photo finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.22. She lost out on her bid for third to Lexi Klinkenberg from Kentridge who finished at 45.21.
The 4x100 relay team of Overland, Kayla Grigg, Caylah Lunning and Diamond Ransom (49.48) placed fourth. The 4x400 relay team of Overland, Arlena Hannan, Casci Carpenter and London Cleverly placed seventh with a time of 4:01.30
Lunning placed 11th overall in the long jump with a leap of 16-11, and Sadie Nielsen took fifth in the discus with a toss of 123-05 feet.
"I am so proud of all the girls ... they did an awesome job," coach Nicki Weiland said. "They were a bit nervous during the prelims. This was the first time in the past 20-plus years we've had the relay teams at state, so I think the nerves got to them. But when we go back next year, they'll know how to handle things better."
