| May 25, 2012 6:00 AM

GEORGE - The annual George Rock and Ride bicycle tour will be held on Saturday, June 16, and it promises to be better than ever.

This year's Rock and Ride will be a combined promotion of the George Community Hall, Quincy Valley Tourism Association and Twin Firs Turf-Parties on the Green.

Riders are invited to finish the day at Twin Turf. The QVTA will have a beer and wine garden, and parties on the Green will have a fireworks show.

The Rock and Ride and the lunch that follows will end around 3 p.m. at the George Community Hall. The gates at Twin Firs will open at 4 p.m.

There will be a 6 p.m. barbecue at Twin Firs. The 5-10 wine and beer garden will lead up to the fireworks.

Rock and Ride will start with registration at 5:30 a.m. at the George Community Hall. The 100-mile and 70-mile riders will depart at 6 a.m.

The 30-mile riders will leave at 8 a.m, and the 10-mile riders will head out at 9 a.m. Lunch, which features hamburgers, hot dogs and potatoes, will begin at 10:30 at the community hall kitchen.

There will be live music by The Great Pretenders.

Rock and Ride is a tour of the "beautiful Columbia Basin," according to community hall coordinator Debby Kooy. Riders of all ages are welcome.

"It will be a Father's Day everyone can enjoy," she said.
