Othello girls golf top Dawgs at regional

YAKIMA - Delaney Towle shot 93 and Katelyn Andrews carded 95 to lead the Othello Huskies to the GNL/CWAC regional championship at Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima Tuesday.

Othello finished with a team score of 162, Selah placed second with 133.5 , and Ephrata was fifth with 80.

"It was a pretty exciting win for the girls," coach Heather McDonald said. "We won the regional tournament at Palouse Ridge last year and no one gave us a chance, so it was pretty sweet to repeat this year."

Towle was the low round medalist on the day. Kylie Kummer and Mikayla Parris shot 105, and Haley Guse turned in a 116 to round out the scoring for the Huskies.

Towle, Andrews, Kummer and Parris finished in the top 23 and will be making the trip to the state tournament at The Classic Golf Course in Spanaway May 22 and 23.

"The girls are pretty excited to be going to state," McDonald said.

Kendal Sage (99) and Rachael Autry (109) made the cut and will represent Ephrata on the big stage. The Tigers Tressa Davis shot 116, and Zoe Tanner carded 144, but did not qualify for the tournament.
