MLIRD's Pledge

| May 18, 2012 6:00 AM

I find it hard to believe that the MLIRD Board of Directors cannot find time to say the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the beginning of their meetings. I chair or sit on several boards and we always say the Pledge. The average time to recite the Pledge is 10.3 seconds! 10.3 SECONDS!!

It saddens me that the message that is being sent to the public, those that are serving and have served our country and today's YOUTH is that they (the Board) do not have 10.3 seconds to honor the flag and our country. This is a crying shame!

If the pledge has always been common practice prior to their meetings and now they cannot figure out how to squeeze 10.3 seconds out of their meeting time..........then shame on them!

I know that not all MLIRD Board members want to cut the pledge but I am not the type of person to call certain individuals out.
