Ex-board director wants dredging back

The MLIRD stands for Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District. Rehabilitation means to restore to a good condition.

In 2011, under the direction of Ron Covey and hard work of the MLIRD employees, tons of sediment was removed from the lake by a dredge. Our lake was in the first step of being truly rehabilitated. It had taken five years to gain the permits necessary for the silt removal. The MLIRD was beginning to rehabilitate the lake. But since the election of Mick Hansen, not one ounce of sediment has been removed. The dredge project has been shut down.

Since the founding of the MLIRD in 1928, the board worked by consensus and water quality in our lake has seen great improvement.

Now there is bickering and dissension as the Hansen dictatorship plots to buy a trailer for Connelly Park.

I like Connelly Park and support improvements there, but let's get our priorities straight and resume removing the silt from our lake.

Tell the board to get with the program and clean up the lake.
